I. We invite you to join us at the Wintonbury Coffeehouse on Saturday, May 10th, to welcome singer/songwriter and guitarist Bob Stanhope back to our stage. Bob is one of those rare songwriters who avoid the clichés and make us think beyond the obvious. We never know quite what to expect from Bob, as his repertoire ranges from the profound to the quirky to the outrageously funny, but we always know we can expect a great evening from a real pro. You can visit Bob on the web at www.bobstanhope.com, and you can listen to some songs recorded on his previous visits to Wintonbury in our Listening Room.

We'll open the evening with an exciting newcomer to the Wintonbury stage. Anadara Farmer plays an upbeat brand of contemporary folk, and we think you'll agree that there are few who can match her. She'll be accompanied on this trip by Tim Gentle on guitar and vocals, bassist Mark Rey, and drummer Craig Middleton. We almost waited too long to book Anadara - she'll be moving to California in June. We're delighted to have the opportunity to host one of her last gigs before she leaves this coast.

The Wintonbury Coffeehouse is held on the second Saturday of the month at Wintonbury Baptist Church, 54 Maple Avenue, Bloomfield, Connecticut. Starting time is 7:30 p.m., and the doors open at 7:00. There is no charge for admission or refreshments. A $7 donation is suggested to cover expenses.

II. Audio File of the Month - "Sweet Abandon" Courtney Reid's song about her Savior's love, recorded by Maeve at Wintonbury on March 8, 2003.

III. Link of the Month - Anadara Farmer - We're looking forward to hosting Anadara Farmer and her band this month - visit her web site to read her bio and hear samples of her music.

IV. Last Month's Coffeehouse - Tree by Leaf is always worth another listen - their songs have a way of transporting us beyond this world. We think the 75 or so people who joined us to hear them on April 12th would agree. A beautiful opening set was performed by the Kathleen Kruze Trio. They were almost the Kathleen Kruze Duo - percussionist James Moss got lost and came to Wintonbury from Bridgeport via Vernon, making a very welcome arrival in the middle of Kathleen's set.

V. Another Family Note - Lisandrea Wentland, the a cappella singer who has performed at Wintonbury once a year for the past eight years, gave birth to her first child, Logan, on April 17th. Congratulations to Lisa and her husband Tom! For seriously cute baby pictures, check out the family's photo site.
