I. On Saturday, November 8th, we are very pleased to welcome singer/songwriter and guitarist Shana Cassidy back to our stage. Shana writes wonderful songs about the things that affect her deeply, and delivers them with a glorious, expressive voice that takes her words straight to the hearts of her audience. She’ll be bringing a couple of friends to join her on stage this time – Tommy Gonzalez on djembe and Tim Busching on guitar. You can visit Shana on the web at http://www.shanacassidy.com And you can also hear some of her songs, recorded in her previous appearances at Wintonbury, in our Listening Room.
Our opening set will be something completely new and different: Wintonbury’s first-ever New Artists Showcase. Five exciting new local artists will each share two songs with us. Join us to hear Andrew Springman, Denise Williams, Jillian Wright, David Brooke & Viewpoint, and Hitoshi Yamaguchi in their first Wintonbury appearances!
The Wintonbury Coffeehouse is held on the second Saturday of the month at Wintonbury Baptist Church, 54 Maple Avenue, Bloomfield, Connecticut. Starting time is 7:30 p.m., and the doors open at 7:00. There is no charge for admission or refreshments. A $7 donation is suggested to cover expenses.
II. Audio File of the Month - Here’s the perfect song for November – "Tulips in the Spring," recorded by Brooks Williams and Rollyn Zoubek at the Wintonbury Coffeehouse, November 9, 2002. We’ve also added a song from Brooks's 2003 appearance to our Listening Room, "How the Nighttime Sings," recorded October 10, 2003 by Brooks Williams and Hitoshi Yamaguchi.
III. Link of the Month – We may never be able to host Buddy and Julie Miller at Wintonbury, but so many of their songs have been sung from our stage that we feel as though they’ve already been here. A pair of truly extraordinary songwriters.
IV. Last Month's Coffeehouse – Brooks Williams played us a wonderful set, as he always does. This one was more reflective and retrospective than usual, and it was great to hear some of his older songs again. On this trip, Brooks was accompanied by bassist Hitoshi Yamaguchi, who will be appearing as a singer/songwriter and guitarist in our New Artists Showcase on November 8th. Eunice Sim, accompanied by her husband Taylor Hanson, played a terrific opening set that was very well received. About 145 people enjoyed this evening along with us.
