I. We're taking July and August off this year. Please join us in the fall for:
September 13: Nate & James - The acoustic duo of Nate Miller & James Vitray - great songwriting and perfect harmonies. With Koo Chung - Passion and honesty are the hallmarks of this New York singer/songwriter's eclectic folk style.
October 11: Brooks Williams - The all-time favorite of the Wintonbury audience, and one of the finest acoustic guitarists you will ever hear. With Eunice Sim - Boston singer/songwriter with a clear, true voice and an amazing way with words and a tune. ($10 donation suggested for this evening.)
November 8: Shana Cassidy - Singer/songwriter who writes and sings from the heart about the things that touch her deeply. Opening with a New Artists Showcase - A first-time event for the Wintonbury Coffeehouse: two songs each from five exciting new local artists.
December 13: Body & Soul - Jazz with a pop/blues/gospel flavor. Bob LeBlanc's band returns with some exciting guest vocalists and some great Christmas material. With Kris & Jen Allen and friends - He plays sax, she plays piano, their friends play bass and drums, and together they play some pretty cool instrumental jazz.
January 10: Vesper - Ben and Vesper Stamper return with their own unique brand of contemporary folk - tender, melodic, honest, and thought-provoking.
The Wintonbury Coffeehouse is held on the second Saturday of the month at Wintonbury Baptist Church, 54 Maple Avenue, Bloomfield, Connecticut. Starting time is 7:30 p.m., and the doors open at 7:00. There is no charge for admission or refreshments. A $7 donation is suggested to cover expenses.
II. Links of the Month - Koo Chung is a New York singer/songwriter with a passionate and eclectic folk style. We're looking forward to hosting for the first time at Wintonbury on September 13th.
III. Last Month's Coffeehouse - What a great way to wrap up Wintonbury's 2002-2003 season! About 115 people joined us to hear a terrific acoustic set from that silly man Nico and his band. Bryan Graves played a fine opening set, and it looked to us like everyone was having a great time.
IV. New Coffeehouse - This one is right next door to us - the Trinity United Methodist Church Coffeehouse is held in Windsor on the fourth (sometimes last) Saturday of the month. (They're working on a shorter name!) For details and to check out the rest of the Christian coffeehouses in Connecticut, please visit our website. From the home page, select "Links and Other Venues," and then click on "Christian Coffeehouses."
