I. Join us on Saturday, April 10th, as we welcome that incredible trio, Maeve, back to our stage. Three Boston-area singer/songwriters, Rachel Taylor, Courtney Reid, and Rollyn Zoubek, join together to form this powerhouse girl group. Each is an excellent singer/songwriter in her own right, but Maeve is much more than the sum of its parts. When these three come together, the mix of folk, acoustic rock and jazz they create is serendipitous, almost magical. Their voices in harmony have a quality that transcends their individual voices, as good as those are. This is an evening not to be missed. You can hear some of Maeve's songs recorded live at Wintonbury in our Listening Room, and also visit them on the web at www.maevemusic.com

We'll open the evening with a set from Hitoshi Yamaguchi. Hitoshi is a young singer/songwriter from Worcester who brings a fresh outlook and thoughtful lyrics to his audience. He delighted the Wintonbury audience at our New Artists Showcase this past November, when he had the distinction of being the first person ever to play a cello on our stage! We're looking forward to hearing his first full set at Wintonbury.

The Wintonbury Coffeehouse is held on the second Saturday of the month at Wintonbury Baptist Church, 54 Maple Avenue, Bloomfield, Connecticut. Starting time is 7:30 p.m., and the doors open at 7:00. There is no charge for admission or refreshments. A $7 donation is suggested to cover expenses.

II. Audio File of the Month - "Chickadee Cherub" A light-hearted song of thanksgiving, recorded live at Wintonbury 2/14/04 by Michael and Greta Blanchard.

III. Link of the Month - Elijah Wyman will be making his first appearance at Wintonbury on May 8th. Check out this singer/songwriter from Boston's north shore - he's got a bit of an edge and a nice way with words.

IV. Last Month's Coffeehouse - and a special note of thanks. First of all, we've got to say thank you, thank you, thank you to the anonymous angel who left a brand new snake on the stage on March 13th with a note, "donation for the coffeehouse." This wasn't just any old corn snake or copperhead, either - this snake is an essential piece of sound equipment that sends the sound signals from the musicians on stage back to the sound board. It's just the right length and other specs for the coffeehouse's needs. Our old snake was in pretty tough shape, and new snakes come very expensive. A "Name the Snake" contest announced by coffeehouse emcee Tim Ruark produced the winning entry of "Spike." Sounds good to us. So, thank you to our anonymous donor - this was a very welcome gift!

Later that evening, we enjoyed the music and humor of Bob Stanhope, who brought out some favorites from the past along with a whole bunch of great new material. (Remember "The DT Love Song"?) Andrew Springman opened up the evening with a really nice set of pop and blues. He brought a drummer, a bassist and a keyboardist to back him up this time, and they made a fine combo. (A "Name the Band" contest produced many entries, but none that met with the group's unqualified approval, so the Andrew Springman Band is still looking for a name.) About 90 people enjoyed this one along with us. Special thanks to Laurie the bassist, who personally invited about half of the audience!
