I. On Saturday, December 11th, we welcome another group of Wintonbury All-Stars to our stage. This time, Tina & Josh Levine, Anna Brewer, Bob LeBlanc, Allen Cook, and Jonathan Rodgers team up to form a truly eclectic group called Shepherd's Pi. They're planning a set featuring a little alternative acoustic, a little blues, a little of everything, and a lot of fun!
We'll open the evening with a set from Hitoshi Yamaguchi. Hitoshi is a young singer/songwriter and guitarist from Worcester who brings a fresh outlook and thoughtful lyrics to his audience. He also holds the distinction of being the only person ever to play a cello on our stage. This should be a great evening - we hope you can join us!
The Wintonbury Coffeehouse is held on the second Saturday of the month at Wintonbury Baptist Church, 54 Maple Avenue, Bloomfield, Connecticut. Starting time is 7:30 p.m., and the doors open at 7:00. There is no charge for admission or refreshments. A $7 donation is suggested to cover expenses.
II. Audio File of the Month - "Come Thou Fount" It's certainly on our top ten list of favorite hymns, and it's beautifully interpreted here by Shana Cassidy and her band. Recorded live at Wintonbury, 10/9/04.
III. Link of the Month - Bob Stanhope's site - catch up with that guy who always makes us laugh and makes us think. Check out his schedule, because he's got a lot of gigs coming up in Connecticut.
IV. Last Month's Coffeehouse - About 85 people joined us on November 13 for some fine jazz and blues sounds. Country blues guitarist Michael Hakanson-Stacy started us off with his amazing fretwork and authentic interpretation of this traditional musical form. He was followed by the Kathleen Kruze Trio, with their jazz-flavored contemporary folk. They brought us a bunch of new songs and served them up with their usual fine musicianship.
