I. Join us on Saturday, January 10th, as we welcome Nico back to Wintonbury for an acoustic set. Describing themselves as a "rock-funk-soul-acoustic-groove-blues-hippy-hearted-whatever band," Nico's music defies categories, combining styles you've never heard combined before. Their lyrics dig into the stuff of everyday life: love, relationships, God, plus some things that no one else writes songs about, like power lines. These are guys with a fresh outlook, tremendous energy, and a lot to offer to any audience. You can visit them online and hear samples of their music at www.sillyman.com

We'll open the evening with a set from Minnow Park, a young singer/songwriter from New York with a personal, reflective style. We enjoyed hearing Minnow when he accompanied Koo Chung at Wintonbury back in September, and decided we had to have him back to play a set of his own.

The Wintonbury Coffeehouse is held on the second Saturday of the month at Wintonbury Baptist Church, 54 Maple Avenue, Bloomfield, Connecticut. Starting time is 7:30 p.m., and the doors open at 7:00. There is no charge for admission or refreshments. A $7 donation is suggested to cover expenses.

II. Audio File of the Month - "Come Home" We usually focus on the weird and outrageous stuff that Bob Stanhope comes out with, but he writes genuinely tender songs as well. Recorded live at Wintonbury May, 2003.

III. Link of the Month - Michael Kelly Blanchard- We're looking forward to hosting Michael Kelly Blanchard again on February 14th. To see a whole new aspect of a long-time favorite musician, check out the newsletter section of his site - thoughtful essays and one absorbing short story.

IV. Last Month's Coffeehouse - The December 13th coffeehouse was attended by about 90 people, and it looked to us like all of them were having a great time! Kris & Jen Allen and Josh Stamper led off with a great set of instrumental jazz, and Body and Soul followed with their own special brand of soul, jazz, and gospel. Their set was a mixture of really fine instrumentals and vocal numbers featuring Bob LeBlanc and Edmond Peart, and it wrapped up with Christmas songs featuring guest vocalists Susan Dailey and Jenna Ridley. And Judy LeBlanc provided special Christmas decorations to give the room a cheerful holiday atmosphere - thank you, Judy!
