IV. Last Month's Coffeehouse

I. Join us on Saturday, March 13th, as we welcome singer/songwriter and guitarist Bob Stanhope back to our stage. Bob is one of those songwriters who avoid the clichés and make us think beyond the obvious. We never know quite what to expect from Bob, as his repertoire ranges from the profound to the quirky to the outrageously funny, but we always know we can expect a great evening from a real pro. You can visit Bob on the web at www.bobstanhope.com, and you can hear some songs recorded on his previous visits to Wintonbury in the Listening Room at our web site.

We'll open the evening with a set of blues, folk and pop from Andrew Springman. Andrew is a neighbor of Wintonbury's, living in the next-door town of Simsbury, and he made a big impression on the Wintonbury audience during our New Artists Showcase in November. Andrew digs deep into his soul to write some excellent songs, and he plays a fine blues guitar. He'll be bringing a couple of friends along to back him up in his set on March 13th. We're looking forward to a great evening of music!

The Wintonbury Coffeehouse is held on the second Saturday of the month at Wintonbury Baptist Church, 54 Maple Avenue, Bloomfield, Connecticut. Starting time is 7:30 p.m., and the doors open at 7:00. There is no charge for admission or refreshments. A $7 donation is suggested to cover expenses.

II. Audio File of the Month - "Breaking My Beauty" Shana Cassidy at her very best, in a song every woman can identify with. Recorded live at Wintonbury on November 8, 2003.

III. Link of the Month - Maeve is a simply out-of-this world trio, and we look forward to hosting them again at Wintonbury on April 10th. Visit their web site to hear some samples and read about new developments in their music.

IV. Last Month's Coffeehouse - Our Valentine's Day coffeehouse was attended by about 120 people, who enjoyed an evening of terrific music. Bryan Graves led off the evening, accompanied by percussionist Rick Moran, and gave us an excellent set of very personal and often touching songs. The audience, although they were clearly looking forward to hearing Michael Kelly Blanchard, was so appreciative of Bryan's set that they brought him back for a rare opening-act encore. Michael Blanchard, who seems to get better every year, followed with a tender and intimate set of love songs, humor, and reflections on change and God's faithfulness. We were especially glad to welcome Greta Blanchard back to our stage on backing vocals - she had been unable to accompany Michael on his last Wintonbury appearance. The Blanchards' set was followed by an appreciative standing ovation from the audience - and we honestly can't remember the last time that's happened. One person complimented Micha
el afterwards on the warmth and intimacy of his set by saying, "It was just like you were playing in my living room." That's the way it's supposed to be.
