I. On Saturday, November 13th, we're delighted to host the Kathleen Kruze Trio once again. Kathleen writes warm and thoughtful songs about real life, real struggles, and real joys. She is very ably accompanied by Robin Simmons (that lady who sings soprano and plays bass) and percussionist James Moss. Robin and James bring a jazz sensibility to the folk/pop sound of Kathleen's songs, and their fine musicianship has made them favorites with the Wintonbury audience. You can hear some songs from this trio, recorded on their previous visits to Wintonbury, in our Listening Room.

November's coffeehouse will also feature the blues, folk, and spirituals of that masterly country blues guitarist, Michael Hakanson-Stacy. Michael has a great respect for the historical and spiritual roots of the blues, and he serves it up with outstanding musicianship and a dry sense of humor. We always get a fascinating glimpse of America's history from Michael as he plays his traditional spirituals, gospel songs by the Rev. Gary Davis and Blind Willie McTell, and great old blues standards.

The Wintonbury Coffeehouse is held on the second Saturday of the month at Wintonbury Baptist Church, 54 Maple Avenue, Bloomfield, Connecticut. Starting time is 7:30 p.m., and the doors open at 7:00. There is no charge for admission or refreshments. A $7 donation is suggested to cover expenses.

II. Audio File of the Month - We've long regarded Vesper Stamper as one of the finest lyricists we've ever hosted at Wintonbury. Here she is with the beautiful and compelling "Olive." Recorded live at Wintonbury, 6/12/04.

III. Link of the Month - Answers.org - Research on the subjects of apologetics and cults, set apart by the depth of their commitment to the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth. Check out the links at the top of the home page - but first, make yourself a cup of coffee, and be prepared to stay for a while.

IV. Last Month's Coffeehouse - Shana Cassidy came with a full band on October 9th and gave us a wonderful set as always. David Brooke put together a band for his first full set at Wintonbury, and gave a fine performance that was very well received. About 90 people turned out for this one.
