I. There's no doubt who the all-time favorite of the Wintonbury Coffeehouse audience is - it's Brooks Williams, and we are pleased to welcome him back to Wintonbury on Saturday, September 11th. Brooks Williams is a singer, songwriter, and truly extraordinary guitarist, and he's been a good friend to the coffeehouse over the years as he's built a well-deserved national reputation on the folk circuit. Brooks has been described a folk renegade because his style is so distinctive that it defies categories, drawing from the traditional folk music of the British Isles, Delta blues, American spirituals, a bit of calypso, and cutting-edge acoustic styles. No one who enjoys the guitar should miss this coffeehouse - in a long life full of good music, you will seldom hear a guitarist with the musicianship and creativity of Brooks Williams. You can visit him on the web at www.brookswilliams.com

We'll open the evening with a set of cutting-edge acoustic from a pair of Wintonbury newcomers who call themselves The Josh & Kyle Show. Josh Strecker lives next door in West Hartford, where he works as a youth pastor, and Kyle Christopher comes in from out of state to play gigs with him. Together, they make a terrific acoustic duo - powerful and melodic, a bit reminiscent of Harrod & Funck. Come out and hear Josh and Kyle in their first Wintonbury appearance.

The Wintonbury Coffeehouse is held on the second Saturday of the month at Wintonbury Baptist Church, 54 Maple Avenue, Bloomfield, Connecticut. Starting time is 7:30 p.m., and the doors open at 7:00. There is no charge for admission or refreshments. A $7 donation is suggested to cover expenses.

II. Audio File of the Month - "Tear Down the Walls" - Recorded live at Wintonbury, the Kathleen Kruze Trio reflects on deceit and self-deceit.

III. Link of the Month - Reasons to Believe, promoting a biblically faithful and scientifically testable alternative to Darwinian evolution. (This is Billie's favorite web site.)

IV. Last Month's Coffeehouse - We launched our 2004-2005 season on August 14 with an outstanding performance by the Koo Chung Band. This band makes fans and friends everywhere they go - if you missed them, try to catch them in performance when they come to the area again. Reynolds Chapman gave us a fine opening set before heading back to college for the new school year. About 85 people joined us for this one.
