I. Happy New Year! Join us on Saturday, January 8th, to hear Michael Kelly Blanchard, probably the best-known and best-loved of Connecticut's Christian musicians. His trademark song, "Be Ye Glad," is familiar even to many who have never heard Michael. Once described by Noel Paul Stookey as "C.S. Lewis with a guitar," Michael Blanchard writes songs that reach out to people where they live - sometimes deeply touching, sometimes outrageously funny, and very often both. We laugh along with him through songs about blind dates and child-rearing, and are moved almost to tears by songs of estrangement, loss, and the redemptive power of God's love. Don't miss this opportunity to hear one of the finest Christian songwriters of our era. You can visit Michael on the web at www.m-k-blanchard.org

We'll open the evening with a set from a newcomer to the Wintonbury stage, Micah Vierling. Micah comes to us from Pennsylvania with a collection of honest and reflective songs, folk with just a hint of country. This should be a great evening - we hope you can join us!

The Wintonbury Coffeehouse is held on the second Saturday of the month at Wintonbury Baptist Church, 54 Maple Avenue, Bloomfield, Connecticut. Starting time is 7:30 p.m., and the doors open at 7:00. There is no charge for admission or refreshments. A $7 donation is suggested to cover expenses.

II. Audio File of the Month - "Angel Girl" Rollyn Zoubek had a dream about a mother and daughter playing on the beach, and woke up to write this beautiful song. Recorded by Rollyn Zoubek and Brooks Williams at the Wintonbury Coffeehouse in February 2002.

III. Link of the Month - Nico has a new CD out - check out some tracks at his web site.

IV. Last Month's Coffeehouse - On December 11, we held our last coffeehouse of 2004. We saw the old year out in style with a great set from Shepherd's Pi, a truly eclectic group of Wintonbury musicians. Really fine musicians, and full of surprises. Hitoshi Yamaguchi gave us a thoughtful and articulate set of songs in the opening slot. About 90 people turned out for this one.

Please visit our web site at http://www.wintonburycoffeehouse.org for a complete schedule of upcoming coffeehouses, information for musicians interested in playing at Wintonbury, and more.
