I. Yes, There IS a Wintonbury Coffeehouse This Month!! We don't know whyanyone should think there wouldn't be, but there seems to be a rumor to thateffect going around. Just because the church basement was flooded with 18inches of water on October 14th, destroying the carpet, most of thecoffeehouse sound system, and the espresso machine, why would we considercanceling the coffeehouse?

It was amazing. After eight days of rain, the creek behind the church finally came up across the parking lot and into the building, rising to 18inches and receding again all in one night. The water left behind a lot of destruction, and it was especially tough to lose all the new sound equipment that we had replaced over the summer. (Once again, the snake escaped injury.) Church staff, volunteers, and a professional cleaning company have been working very hard to make the church basement usable again. Thanks to the support of the church, we now have a lot of new sound equipment, a new espresso machine, new baskets, and new candleholders. Best of all, we have a lot of people who have expressed an interest in joining the coffeehouse team. And we're really looking forward to the coffeehouse this coming Saturday!

Update on Doug's arm surgery to reattach a torn biceps tendon - he's out of his cast and doing very well! We have a lot to be thankful for.

II. This Month's Coffeehouse - On Saturday, November 12th, we are verypleased to welcome singer/songwriter Shana Cassidy back to our stage. Shana writes wonderful songs about the things that affect her deeply, and delivers them with a glorious, expressive voice that takes her words straight to the hearts of her audience. You can visit Shana on the web at www.shanacassidy.com, and you can hear some of her songs, recorded in her previous appearances at Wintonbury, in the Listening Room at our web site.

We'll open the evening with a return appearance by Brooke Campbell. She opened the September coffeehouse at Wintonbury, and is making a quick return because she lost her voice and was unable to finish her set. Brooke's beautiful voice is clear and sweet, and her songs speak of the pains and joys of real life and faith. You can visit Brooke's web site at www.brooke-campbell.com

The Wintonbury Coffeehouse is held on the second Saturday of the month at Wintonbury Baptist Church, 54 Maple Avenue, Bloomfield, Connecticut. Starting time is 7:30 p.m., and the doors open at 7:00. There is no charge for admission or refreshments. A $7 donation is suggested to cover expenses.

III. Link of the Month - Abigail Zsiga - We just met and heard Abigail Zsiga this past weekend, and we look forward to hosting her at Wintonbury - probably very soon! Abigail has an absolutely extraordinary gift for music. Visiting her web site will give you just a little sample of her amazing voice.

IV. Last Month's Coffeehouse - Attendance was looking up again, as about 70 people turned out on October 8th to hear Erica Soucy and Shepherd's Pi. The audience really enjoyed Erica's first appearance on the Wintonbury stage - she has a lovely voice and a very interesting collection of songs. Shepherd 's Pi played a much-appreciated and eclectic set. The band's keyboardist, Anna Brewer, is coming into her own as a singer/songwriter, and we're hoping to bring her back for a solo set before too long.
