I. At this writing, the weather is looking iffy this Saturday. If we do need to cancel the coffeehouse, we’ll send out an email to the newsletter list and post the cancellation on the coffeehouse web site. We’ll also call in the cancellation to various media outlets (WTIC AM-1080 and Channels 3 and 30), but our past success in getting this info on the air has been mixed.

II. There’s no doubt who the all-time favorite of the Wintonbury Coffeehouse audience is – it’s Brooks Williams, and we are pleased to welcome him back to Wintonbury on Saturday, February 11th. Brooks Williams is a singer, songwriter, and truly extraordinary guitarist, and he’s been a good friend to the coffeehouse over the years as he’s built a well-deserved national reputation on the folk circuit. On this visit, he’s bringing one of his guitar students to accompany him, Berlin high-schooler Beth Colegrove. Brooks describes Beth as one of the finest students he has ever had, and we’re looking forward to hearing her. Visit Brooks on the web at www.brookswilliams.com, and listen to some tunes recorded in his previous visits to Wintonbury in our Listening Room.

We’ll open the evening with a set of traditional blues and gospel from Robin O’Herin. Robin is a wonderful guitarist, playing slide and fingerstyle guitar as she interprets traditional blues and gospel songs in a lovely, soulful voice. She also plays mountain dulcimer as she mixes some traditional Appalachian music into her set. Check out Robin’s web site at www.robinoherin.com.

The Wintonbury Coffeehouse is held on the second Saturday of the month at Wintonbury Church, 54 Maple Avenue in Bloomfield. Starting time is 7:30. There is no charge for admission or refreshments, but we suggest a $10 donation to help meet expenses.

III. Link of the Month – Bob Stanhope - Bob is that guy who always makes us laugh and makes us think, and we’re looking forward to hosting him at Wintonbury again on June 10.

IV. Last Month’s Coffeehouse – The weather was rotten, the Patriots were in the playoffs, and we kind of expected that people would be staying home for this one. We were wrong. The coffeehouse was blessed with an audience of about 120 to hear local girl Anna Brewer and Boston duo Ryanhood. They were not disappointed. Anna, with her strong, melodic songs and lovely voice, was very enthusiastically received. Ryanhood, in their first appearance at Wintonbury, brought a number of loyal followers and made a bunch of new fans.
