I. Join us on Saturday, June 10th, as we welcome singer/songwriter and guitarist Bob Stanhope back to our stage. Bob is one of those songwriters who avoid the clichés and make us think beyond the obvious. We never know quite what to expect from Bob, as his repertoire ranges from the profound to the quirky to the outrageously funny, but we always know we can expect a great evening from a real pro. You can visit Bob on the web at www.bobstanhope.com, and you can hear some songs recorded on his previous visits to Wintonbury in our web site Listening Room.
We'll open the evening with a return appearance by singer/songwriter Erica Soucy, who delighted the Wintonbury audience with her first set last fall. Erica is the sister of Tree by Leaf's Garrett Soucy, and an amazing knack with words seems to run in the family. Join us in welcoming her back to Wintonbury on June 10th.
The Wintonbury Coffeehouse is held on the second Saturday of the month at Wintonbury Church, 54 Maple Avenue in Bloomfield. Starting time is 7:30. There is no charge for admission or refreshments, but we suggest a $7 donation to help meet expenses.
II. Link of the Month - Mighty Purple - This is the legendary New Haven area band whose members run The Space in Hamden. We're looking forward to hosting Steve and Jon Rodgers of Mighty Purple as an acoustic duo on August 12.
III. Last Month's Coffeehouse - Koo Chung and Fireflye - Over a hundred people joined us on May 13 and enjoyed an acoustic pop/rock set from Koo Chung and drummer Paul Rhee. Koo's ability to connect with an audience is just amazing - and Paul is pretty amazing on drums, too. Fireflye, the duo of Beth Colegrove and Jeff Butcher, gave us a very strong opening set and were enthusiastically received by the Wintonbury audience.
IV. No Coffeehouse Next Month - There will be no July coffeehouse at Wintonbury, but we'll be back in August with Tom Conlon and Steve & Jon Rodgers.
