III. Last Month’s Coffeehouse – Brooks Williams & Robin O’Herin

I. On Saturday, March 11, we are pleased to welcome singer/songwriter and guitarist Dave Potts to the Wintonbury Stage. Dave comes to us from Auburn, Alabama, where he draws his inspiration from small-town Southern life. Dave has a way of seeing splendor in the mundane and in the small events we often overlook. His open-hearted songs of hope and faith challenge us to appreciate the beauty and value of the people around us as well. You can learn more about Dave and hear samples of his music at www.davepotts.com

We’ll open the evening with a return set from West Hartford’s Josh Strecker. Josh writes strong, melodic songs with a bit of an alternative acoustic edge. He has been very enthusiastically received in his last two appearances at Wintonbury – come and find out why.

The Wintonbury Coffeehouse is held on the second Saturday of the month at Wintonbury Church, 54 Maple Avenue in Bloomfield. Starting time is 7:30. There is no charge for admission or refreshments, but we suggest a $7 donation to help meet expenses.

II. Link of the Month – Brooke Campbell– Brooke has completely redone her web site, and it looks great – check it out! We enjoyed hosting Brooke this past fall and look forward to having her back.

III. Last Month’s Coffeehouse – As we watched the Blizzard of ’06 forming and coming up the coast, we weren’t sure if the February 11 coffeehouse was going to happen or not. But the blizzard slowed down just enough to let us all enjoy the music of Brooks Williams and Robin O’Herin and get everyone home before the snow started. Robin played a strong opening set of traditional blues and gospel music, and Brooks was as terrific as always. Brooks was accompanied on this trip by his student Beth Colegrove, and by Jeff Butcher. Beth and Jeff form the acoustic duo Fireflye, and we got a little taste of their music on stage on February 11. They’ll be returning to play a full set on May 13.
