I. This Month's Coffeehouse - Tree by Leaf and Robert Messore

II. Link of the Month - Brooks Williams

III. Last Month's Coffeehouse - Brooke Campbell and Anna Brewer

I. On Saturday, October 14th, we are very pleased to welcome back Tree by Leaf to our stage. This exciting young folk trio from Maine draws on influences as diverse as traditional folk, college-radio rock, and old-time gospel. The result is music that is so good it makes you feel like the top of your head is coming off. You seem to remember it from somewhere, even though you know you've never heard anything like it before. Tree by Leaf consists of Garrett & Siiri Soucy and Cliff Young. Garrett writes the songs and plays guitar, Cliff plays the piano, and all of them sing. You can check out their web site at www.treebyleaf.org, and you can hear some songs they've played at Wintonbury in our Listening Room.

We'll open the evening with a set from guitarist Robert Messore. Robert is a vital part of the music scene in New Haven, producing the annual New Haven Folk Festival and other concerts. He plays traditional and contemporary acoustic guitar tunes and cites influences as diverse and Phil Keaggy, Leo Kottke, and Eddie Van Halen. To hear a sampling of his music, check out his myspace page at http://www.myspace.com/robertmessore.

The Wintonbury Coffeehouse is held on the second Saturday of the month at Wintonbury Church, 54 Maple Avenue in Bloomfield. Starting time is 7:30. There is no charge for admission or refreshments, but we suggest a $7 donation to help meet expenses.

II. Link of the Month - Brooks Williams - The all-time favorite of the Wintonbury Coffeehouse, and one of the finest acoustic guitarists you'll ever hear. We're looking forward to hosting Brooks again at Wintonbury on December 9.

III. Last Month's Coffeehouse - Brooke Campbell and Anna Brewer - It was a really nice coffeehouse in September, with a couple of fairly laid-back musicians taking the stage. Anna brought a bassist and a drummer to complement her keyboards and vocals, and was enthusiastically received by the Wintonbury audience. Brooke then captivated the audience with a beautiful set - just her and her guitar. Attendance was lower than we'd like to see (about 60), but everyone seemed to have a great time.
