II. Link of the Month - Soulfest 2007
III. Last Month's Coffeehouse - Michael Kelly Blanchard and Phoebe Henry
I. Join us on Saturday, February 10th, to hear some great classic jazz from some of the finest musicians in the area. Guitarist Robert Fullerton fronts his group, with Frank Schwartz on bass and Ben Fullerton on drums. Joe Nerny, who accompanied Michael Kelly Blanchard at Wintonbury on January 13, plays sax. These four are the core of the group - they'll be bringing other instrumentalists and vocalists along for the February 10 performance. Robert and his group play their own songs and some great old jazz standards. This will be an evening that everyone will enjoy.
Wintonbury newcomer Ryan Weber will open the evening. Ryan is a singer/songwriter and guitarist from southwestern Connecticut whose songs deal with deep life questions and his Christian faith. We look forward to his first appearance at Wintonbury.
The Wintonbury Coffeehouse is held on the second Saturday of the month at Wintonbury Church, 54 Maple Avenue in Bloomfield. Starting time is 7:30. There is no charge for admission or refreshments, but we suggest a $7 donation to help meet expenses.
II. Link of the Month - Soulfest 2007 - A fantastic festival, August 1-4 at Gunstock Mountain Resort, Gilford, NH. It's not too early to think about it - in fact, the earlier you order tickets, the lower the price. Read about the musicians and the events at their site.
III. Last Month's Coffeehouse - Michael Kelly Blanchard and Phoebe Henry -
About 160 people poured into the Wintonbury Coffeehouse on January 13th to
enjoy the music of two very gifted musicians. Phoebe gave us a wonderful opening
set in her Wintonbury debut, and we look forward to hosting her
again. Michael played a terrific set, as he always does, and was accompanied
on this trip by saxophonist Joe Nerny. It was a special and memorable evening.
